The 2023 NFL season brought renewed hope for the San Francisco 49ers, a team bursting with talent but haunted by Super Bowl disappointments.

However, lingering doubts surround head coach Kyle Shanahan’s prowess in navigating crucial game moments, casting shadows over the franchise’s aspirations.

Under the stewardship of head coach/general manager tandem Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, the 49ers underwent significant roster changes.

They bid farewell to key players like safety Jimmie Ward and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who found new home with the Raiders.

Despite a promising start with a 5-0 record, including a dominant victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, the 49ers stumbled, enduring a three-game losing streak after falling to the Cleveland Browns in Week 6. However, they mounted an impressive comeback post-bye, clinching a playoff berth by Week 14 and securing the NFC West title the following week.
