Raptors’ Kyle Lowry misses game vs. Nets with injury

Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry will not play against the Brooklyn Nets tonight, according to head coach Nick Nurse.

Lowry was previously listed as questionable to play on the NBA’s official injury report. Toronto’s all-star guard was forced to leave last night’s game against the Indiana Pacers after crashing hard to the floor in the third quarter.

Post-game x-rays came back negative, but the Raptors diagnosed Lowry with whiplash.

Nurse emphasized that Lowry was “okay,” but would not suit up against Brooklyn.

Lowry is averaging 19.7 points, 7.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds on the season. Earlier in the game against the Pacers, the 33-year-old passed Vince Carter for third all-time on the Raptors’ scoring list.

The Raptors will also be without Marc Gasol (hamstring tightness) and Norman Powell (fractured finger).

The injuries to Gasol and Powell were expected, however the Siakam news is surprising.

The 25-year-old Siakam suffered a a stretched groin after an awkward landing late in the fourth quarter while Gasol suffered a left hamstring injury while running back on defence on a fast break.

Powell was also injured late in the game after he walked into a screen set by Pistons forward Blake Griffin. The Raptors guard immediately grabbed his shoulder and was helped to the locker room by members of Toronto’s training staff. After testing in Toronto, it was determined he sustained a subluxation of the left shoulder.
