Oklahoma Lands Offensive Lineman With Connections to Seth Littrell in Transfer Portal

The Sooners have added another offensive lineman out of the portal, which is a major position of need for Bill Bedenbaugh.

Bill Bedenbaugh bolstered Oklahoma’s offensive line on Friday.

Former North Texas offensive lineman Febechi Nwaiwu announced his commitment to the Sooners out of the transfer portal, joining Michigan State offensive tackle Spencer Brown as OU’s second addition along the line out of the portal.

Nwaiwu, who initially committed to play at North Texas under current Oklahoma co-offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, was named a Second Team Freshman All-American by The Athletic in 2022 after starring along the interior of the offensive line.

The 6-foot-4, 316-pound product out of Coppell High School in Coppell, TX, initially joined Littrell’s North Texas program in 2021, where he redshirted.

The former walk on started 12 games in 2022, and he started an additional eight games for UNT in 2023 despite battling through injuries.

Oklahoma needs plenty of help at offensive line, as Walter Rouse and McKade Mettauer run out of eligibility after the Alamo Bowl, and Tyler Guyton and Andrew Raym have already declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

OU also lost Cayden Green to the transfer portal, who eventually committed to Missouri, after Green established himself as a key piece at left guard for the Sooners in his true freshman campaign.

Offensive tackle Jacob Sexton took over at right tackle for Guyton at the end of the year, meaning the Sooners will return one starter from the unit that began the game in OU’s regular season finale against TCU.

Nwaiwu is the sixth transfer who has committed to Oklahoma out of the transfer portal, joining Brown, tight end Bauer Sharp, wide receiver Deion Burks, running back Samuel Franklin and defensive back Dez Malone.
