Auburn will host this five-star combo guard soon for a visit.

Bruce Pearl and the Auburn coaching staff have started focusing on recruiting the 2025 class.

Auburn’s 2024 class contains Tahaad Pettiford, who is ranked as the number one point guard in the class by 247Sports. Now, Coach Pearl will try to add some talent to the 2025 class. Since Auburn has become one of the best programs in the SEC, it has become a lot easier for Coach Pearl to get his foot in the door with some of the best players in the country. Johnson will be on the Plains for a visit the weekend of February 17th when the Tigers host the Kentucky Wildcats.

One player Coach Pearl and his coaching staff are pushing hard after is Jasper Johnson. He is ranked as the 12th best player in the 2025 class according to 247Sports composite rankings. The 6’4 170 pound combo guard just cut his list of schools down to ten, including Auburn, Kansas, Alabama, Baylor, Kentucky, Missouri, Louisville, North Carolina, USC, and West Virginia.

Joe Tipton of On3 wrote this scouting report on Johnon, “Jasper Johnson is a lefty with nice size and good length. What he does is shoot the ball. Johnson has deep range that extends well beyond the three-point arc, and he is at he’s best in catch and shoot or with one/two dribble pull-ups.

Would like to see Johnson tighten the handle, can struggle once he is in the paint. Lacks blow by burst at this point to get past his man at the point of attack. Has a crafty lay-up package around the basket, especially with the left hand. Solid explosion with a running start.

Can get beat off the bounce in the open floor on defense. Will use both hands to dribble, but most of the time it comes back to his left hand. The range extends well beyond the three-point arc

. Plays with a lot of confidence. Can get you into sets. Dad played football at Kentucky and NFL.”
