Interim Raiders HC Antonio Pierce Eager To Keep His Job On A Permanent Basis

The Las Vegas Raiders have noticeably stepped up their game since Antonio Pierce took over as the interim head coach, and there’s little argument about that. The team delivered a convincing win against the Chargers a couple of weeks back and pulled off an upset against the Chiefs on Christmas Day. Even in their losses, the Raiders have shown more competitiveness and determination than during Josh McDaniels’ tenure. McDaniels, along with general manager David Ziegler, was let go after a disappointing 3-5 start to the season.

Antonio Pierce not shying away from chance at getting Raiders' head-coaching job full-time

The big question now is whether team owner Mark Davis will be convinced enough to make Pierce the permanent head coach when the season concludes. Pierce himself believes that his job application is out there on the field.

“My resume is on the grass. What do you want? I can put up a fancy presentation, I’ve seen that before. I can put up stats, I can put up my resume, but the best thing that happened for me was an opportunity, And at the end of the day, we got to win. And right now, my record, our record is 4-3.” : Pierce expressed to reporters on Tuesday.

Pierce emphasizes his commitment to continuous improvement, comparing his approach to when he was a player striving to get better every day. He hopes that Davis sees the positive changes in the team’s style of play, the support from the fan base, and the positive atmosphere within the organization.

Reflecting on the past, there’s a parallel to the situation two years ago when then-interim coach Rich Bisaccia guided the Raiders to the postseason following the Jon Gruden scandal. Calls were made for Davis to hire him full-time, but the team opted for McDaniels, who, as history shows, had a short-lived stint of just 25 games.
